Coronavirus Information 24th July 2020

Following changes to the Coronavirus Act 2020, we are able to further lift some restrictions at Stafford Crematorium. We can only do this by giving full consideration to everyone’s safety, so please adhere to any safety guidance that is currently in place.

Stafford Crematorium continues to work closely with Funeral Directors and families with regards to funeral services, however, following the latest Government advice concerning the control measures for Covid-19 a number of changes to services have been implemented to protect the public and staff:

Funeral Services and Interments

  • The maximum number of mourners now able to attend funerals is 30 with social distancing still being practised.

  • At the conclusion of funeral services we ask kindly that mourners disperse as quickly as possible and avoid congregating in the Cloister area.

  • For mourners who are not able to participate in a chapel service due to current Coronavirus restrictions or because they are not able to travel, please speak to the Funeral Director in charge of the funeral about organising a live online link.

  • We are now supporting the NHS Test & Trace service so the total number of mourners attending a service will be recorded so that the applicant can be prompted to add names to numbers. This will be completed discreetly by the attendant on the day.

  • The maximum number of mourners that can now attend an interment or scattering has increased to 30.

Burial Grounds, Cemeteries and Book of Remembrance

  • Burial grounds at Stafford Crematorium, Stafford Eccleshall Road Cemetery and Stone Cemetery are open to the public in line with the latest Government directive.

  • From Monday 13th July 2020, the Book of Remembrance Room at Stafford Crematorium has been able to re-open, again with social distancing in place. Unfortunately, at present, the placing of flowers is not permitted and vases are currently unavailable. Social distancing and good hygiene must be observed at all times. Please use the hand sanitiser at the entrance (or your own) before you enter.

  • Entrance to the Book of Remembrance room is limited to one individual or one family group at a time. Please keep the doorway clear whilst waiting for your turn.

  • Hearts and Flowers cafe at Stafford Crematorium will be re-opening on 27th July 2020, and has been refurbished.

  • Please ensure that when visiting Crematorium / burial grounds and buildings you maintain social distancing guidelines and follow all site rules and notices.

Stafford Bereavement Services Office

  • From Monday the 13th July 2020 the public reception, within Stafford Bereavement Services office at Stafford Crematorium has been able to re- open. This will be strictly by appointment only. Regrettably, should anyone turn up without an appointment they will not be seen as we do not have the staff on site to attend to them.
